Q: Are Happyheads™ bye-bye lice™ nontoxic products effective at preventing
a head lice infestation?
A: Yes! When used as directed and on a regular basis (once a week in lieu of your child’s regular
shampoo), Happyheads™ bye-bye lice™ Nontoxic Shampoo will actually PREVENT a head lice infestation! That’s because
the eggs or nits that a louse lays need 5-7 days to hatch, and the new bugs need about another week to become old
enough to lay eggs themselves. So, by using this gentle formula on your child weekly, you’ll always be ahead of
the cycle.
In addition, our bye-bye lice™ Treatment and Prevention Family Kit contains a combing solution that doubles as a
wonderful smelling conditioner containing peppermint oil, a scent lice hate. Used on your child regularly, along
with the spray and oil repellents, Happyheads™ products are the perfect weapon to keep lice off of your child’s
head! So skip the chemicals and protect your family the safe and natural way.
Q: If my child has head lice, can I shampoo and comb thoroughly one
time only and be done?
A: No! It is important to follow a 2 week maintenance program to be sure the lice are
gone. After a very thorough combing (possibly 1–3 hours), 99% of the nits will be removed. But the remaining 1%
will cause a new cycle of lice, if not found and removed. The removal process takes 2 weeks and includes shampooing
your child at least 3 additional times. The additional shampooing will kill any missed eggs that have hatched.
Q: Do I have to hire a cleaning service or scrub my house from end
to end in order to remove all the lice?
A: No! A good vacuuming in all the bedrooms and on all the upholstered furniture is enough,
along with washing all the bedding in hot water and drying it in a hot dryer. We will supply you with a simple checklist
of daily maintenance cleaning. You don’t have to go crazy because head lice cannot survive off their host (the human
head), for more than 24 hours. Therefore, they are not crawling around your house. They don’t want to leave their
host and will only do so (without intervention), to transfer to another head. It is also good to note that head
lice do not jump or fly. They travel very slowly off the human head.
Q: Is it true that head lice are more prevalent in people who do not
practice good hygiene?
A: No! This is a myth. Head lice actually prefer clean hair! The insect can grip the
clean hair shaft better and move more quickly and attach eggs more easily to nice, clean hair. So, the greasier
the better for avoiding head lice! That’s why we recommend using hair gel and hair spray as a deterrent to head
lice.
